Review Nepal--
The long being controversy over the federal structure of the country is ripe up. In this last juncture, not only the political parties are bickering over the issue but also the various groups are intensifying protests all over the countries. People of a society are skirmishing with the distinct views over the issue of federal structure. The Bandha imposed in the far western region would be taken as a glance. Two distinct groups, one in favor of undivided Far-west while the other campaigns for a Tharuhat state have been stepping up their protests since two weeks. Not only in far western, but also the entire country is reeling under the strike most largely on the issue of to be adopted federal structure in to be promulgated new constitution.
These entire situations happening in the country signals that our so-called progressive, revolutionary and visionary leaders are hell-bent to push the country towards disaster in the pretext of New Nepal. The so-called visionary leaders should pay their heeds over the fact that dividing the unilateral state on the basis of ethnicity and identity would repeat the fate of war ridden countries like Yugoslavia and Rwanda. It would be better to have knowledge of Yugoslavia, which was fragmentized in several states. Likewise in Rwanda, about eighty thousand Tutsi minority tribe was killed by the Hutu majority. The leaders of the major political parties particularly those who have been standing on the foundation of such a cheaper politics should pay their heeds immediately towards the frightening situation.
Though about two weeks are left to meet the May 28 deadline to promulgate a new constitution, political parties are still trying to strike a deal on numbers of contentious issues including the to be adopted federal structure of the country. Despite their agreement to settle the contentious issues through the vote, parties have still been trying to strike deal on the basis of political share by sitting in the luxurious hotels. They never realized the need of holding intercommunity dialogue to carve out the country into provinces. About four years of peaceful and orderly transition period was wasted with the bickering on the non- issues. How it is possible to settle entire issues within two weeks? It is the questions of all general people to the leaders. We have a conviction and also a reality that it is completely impossible to settle entire issues within the remaining period. We would like to suggest the political parties to initiate dialogue immediately to go in the referendum to settle the most contentious issues including the federal setup of the country. Referendum in the direct observation of world bodies including the United Nation (UN) would be a legitimate base to settle the imbroglio
