UML chairman Khanal repeats consensus mantra once more

BANEPA: Chairman of the CPN (UML) Jhala Nath Khanal said the national consensus government was the only alternative to the current political impasse.


Inaugurating the Second Convention of UML's Constituency No. 3 which began here today, he claimed that Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai was to blame for derailing the national consensus, adding Dr. Bhattarai should step down from his post to forge environment of national political consensus.


UML Chairman Khanal stressed on the unity among the political parties to resolve the current political crisis in the country and said the only alternative to end the government-less situation was forming a national consensus government.


Former Prime Minister Khanal alleged that the Unified CPN (Maoist) has led the nation towards conflict saying the election of the constituent assembly announced by the current government was not a wise decision.


He added that talking about people’s revolt by Baidhya-led CPN, Maoist emerging from the separation of the UCPN-Maoist is impossible.


During the programme, UML Politburo member duo Pashupati Chaulagain and Keshav Badal, among other leaders, urged the party cadres to strengthen party organisations.
