PM Bhattarai buys 80 books in expo
KATHMANDU, July 14: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has stressed on the development of reading habit.
He said this after observing the 16th Nepal Book Exhibition here Saturday. The Prime Minister called for putting into practice the positive things that we read in books.
Stating that he prefers to read books on politics, society, political economy, autobiography and books incorporating revolution and change, Prime Minister Bhattarai said good reading habits helped understand society better.
Prime Minister Bhattarai spent over two hours at the book exhibition and he bought more than 80 books on the occasion.
"We should not borrow books but buy and read them. Doing so cultivates ownership and the reading becomes meaningful," he said and suggested the book sellers and the readers to sell and read books that give positive message.
The Prime Minister observed almost all the stalls in the exhibition and he searched for books mostly on political economy, inclusive state and the principles of inclusiveness, state restructuring etc.
Publisher Likhat Pandey said the Prime Minister is a book lover as he is a writer in himself. Pandey added that the Prime Minister mostly looked for books related to politics.
President of the National Association of Book Sellers and Publishers, Ram Chandra Timothy, said leaders of the major political parties have been providing encouragement to them by observing the book exhibition and buying books every year.

He recalled that Dr Bhattarai had visited the book exhibition three times last year when he was not the Prime Minister.
