Biratnagar, Nepal: Suspended Superintendent of Police (SP) Bikash Raj Khanal, who was one of the suspects in the 33kg gold smuggling case and the murder of carrier Sanam Shakya, has been released from the Biratnagar High Court order on Tuesday.
Division bench of High Court Judges- Nagendralabh Karna and Thir Bahadur Karki- ordered to release Khanal overturning the Morang District Court’s verdict to take Khanal into judicial custody.
The High Court had already ordered to release of two other accused police officers SSP Dibesh Lohani and DSP Prajit KC.
As the accused of the 33kg gold smuggled and murder case begun to release before identifying the perpetrators of the crime, it is suspected that the case would not reach into the logical conclusion.
As the 33 kg gold smuggled through the Tribhuvan International Airport had mysteriously disappeared from Gausala area of Kathmandu, and latter one of the convict Shakya of Urlabari in Morang was murdered, the Morang District Attorney’s Office had lodged cases related to smuggling and murder against 63 suspects including SP Khanal.
