Kathmandu, Nepal: Visiting American Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for South and Southeast Asia, Joseph Felter, expressed his concerns over Nepal’s latest development of the country including the government‘s policy on foreign affairs. 
 
Felter expressed such a concern during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokhrel on Monday. During the meeting held at the Ministry of Defence at Singha Durbar, Felter also expressed concerns over the recent statements from the government and its head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) over Venezuela. 
 
Likewise, Felter also pledged for continuing American government’s support to Nepal in its development. We discussed on the issues related to the bilateral relationship between the two countries and committed for further consolidate Nepal-US ties in days to ahead, DPM Pokhrel said while briefing about the meeting to the media persons. 
 
According to DPM Pokhrel, the issues related to the new national security policy, streamlining the security agencies and further strengthening the security forces in Nepal were also discussed during the meeting. 
 
American Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for South and Southeast Asia, Felter’s recent visit to Nepal is taken importantly as it is the first high level meeting from the US side after government and its head NCP had issues separate statement concerning over America’s role in Venezuela. 
 
As the government and the NCP had spoken against of the America’s role in Venezuela through the separate statement, US officials had expressed serious concerns over the Nepal’s foreign policy and the official view over the issue of Venezuela.
