Kathmandu, Nepal, August 9, 2022: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the governing body of the Nepalese cricket, has appointed renowned Indian cricketer Manoj Prabhakar, 59, as the new head coach of the Nepal national cricket team.


As Pubudu Dassanayake, resigned from the post in July citing family problems, since then, the post had been remaining  vacant. A meeting of the CAN body decided to appoint Prabhakar in the post on Monday.

Prabhakar was Afghanistan’s bowling coach in 2015. He had continued his role till the 2016 World T20 too. He had served as a head coach for Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. He had played various national and international games for India. 

‘Seeing the interest for cricket in Nepal, their talent and skill level, I’m really looking forward to working with the Nepal cricket team to make them into a cricketing force to be reckoned with,’ Prabhakar said after the announcement.
