Kathmandu, Nepal: The Constitutional Council (CC) has on Wednesday recommended acting chief commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Nabin Kumar Ghimire in the post of chief commissioner of the CIAA. 


A meeting of the CC held at the Office of the Prime Ministers and Council of Ministers decided to recommend Ghimire in the post of CIAA chief. Ghimire, who was appointed as the CIAA commissioner on April 2, 2015, has been taking charge of CIAA as the acting chief since February 14 after the retirement of the then chief Commissioner Deep Basnyat.

In the CC meet, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, main opposition party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and National Assembly chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina had attended. 

As per the constitutional provision, parliamentary hearing special committee has to be approved before the appointment of CIAA chief from the head of the state.
