Kathmandu, Nepal, Dec 11, 2019: Chief of the Division Road Office in Pyuthan, Dhruba Kumar Shrestha and engineer Niroj Maharjan have been caught red-handed with bribe money of Rs 2 million from a restaurant in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, on Wednesday.

Following the tipoff of a complaint, a team of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested red-handed the duo for taking the bribe money from service seekers.

According to a press statement issued by the CIAA on Wednesday, Chief of the Division Road Office Shrestha and engineer Maharjan received the bribe money assuring of payment for the ongoing road construction project.

The CIAA has arrested the senior government officials involved in the development activities of the country in the mean time when there is a widespread criticism for rampant corruption across the country.

Though the incumbent government has repeatedly been reiterating for controlling the corruption in the country, the incidents have been indicating that the level of corruption has not decreased but in the form of exceeding order.
