Kathmandu, Nepal, November 9, 2021: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma leaves for New Delhi on Tuesday for an official visit at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Manoj Mukund Naravane.

During his visit to India, he will receive the honorary rank of ‘General’ of the Indian Army.  India’s President Ram Nath Kovind will present him the title on November 10. The presentation of the title of Honorary General to the Army Chief of each country by Nepal and India remains as a unique military tradition since decades.

Though CoAS Sharma’s recent official visit to India is claimed just to receive the honorary rank of ‘General’ of the Indian Army, it is taken importantly from different sectors as the visit follows the meeting between Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Indian Prime Minister last week in UK.

During his stay in India, he is also scheduled to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other high ranking government officials to discuss the improvement of bilateral relations as well as joint training of security forces.
