Kathmandu, August 28, 2020: Nepal's coronavirus (COVID-19) tally has risen to 36,456 after 927 persons tested positive in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has said during a virtual press briefing on Friday that 927 persons tested positive for the virus while carrying out 10,229 PCR tests at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours.
Among the newly infected persons, 415 were from Kathmandu valley alone. According to Jageshowr Gautam, spokesperson for the MoHP, of the 415 infected persons in the valley, Kathmandu alone recorded 350 new cases while 54 new cases from Bhaktapur and 11 new cases from Lalitpur district.
Likewise, 169 persons, who were earlier tested positive for the coronavirus, have been discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. With the 169 new cases of recovery, total numbers of recovery cases have reached to 20,242 in Nepal. The recent data indicates that coronavirus recovery rate has been declining every day in comparisons of newly infected cases.
Likewise, death toll due to the infection of coronavirus has risen to 195 with after 12 persons died in the past 24 hours. This is the highest number of single-day deaths linked to coronavirus registered in Nepal.
According to spokesperson Gautam, eight men and four women succumbed to coronavirus in the past.
