Kathmandu, Nepal, May 17, 2021: coronavirus infection tally of the country has advanced to 464,218 after 9,198 new cases reported in the past 24 hours from across the country on Monday. 

Likewise, death toll related to the coronavirus infection has advanced to 5,215 after 214 more fatalities reported from across the country in the past 24 hours. 

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has stated that Kathmandu valley alone recorded 3098 new infection cases in the past 24 hours. Of them, 2,346 were in Kathmandu, 454 were in Lalitpur and 298 in Bhaktapur district. 

According to the MoHP, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) alone reported 51,412 active cases of the coronavirus infection since last year. Of them, 10,801 are active while 345 patients have lost their lives during the period.

The MoHP has also stated that 9,198 new infection cases of coroanvirus were identified while conducting 21,653 PCR tests and 434 antigen tests in different labs across the country.
 
Similarly, 5,767 patients, who had infected earlier with the virus, have been discharged after getting recovered in the past 24 hours. With the addition, recovery tally of the country has advanced to 345,523 which are equal to 74.4 percent. 

There are currently 113,480 active cases across the country. Of them, 708 individuals are staying in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
