Kathmandu, Nepal, July 18, 2022: The ruling head Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to forge electoral alliances with the ruling parties in the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections. The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the party that concluded on Monday decided to continue the ongoing five party alliances at least until the upcoming elections.
The CWC meeting decided to forge electoral alliance with the ruling parties targeting a clear majority in the upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections, which is required to safeguard the constitution and democracy, address the people’s dream for prosperity through a stable government, reads the statement issued in the sign of the Chief Secretary, Krishna Prasad Poudel.
The NC meeting also concluded to build a common minimum viewpoint among the political parties in the alliance to achieve the desired goal set out by the government and the ruling allies.
The meeting decided to direct the party to come up with a common minimum program with alliance partners on the issues of the implementation of the constitution, economic and social transformation, mentioning foreign relations and others.
Likewise, the meeting has urged the government to issuing a white paper to address the pressing issues including the economical condition of the country. The meeting has also draw the attention of the government to pay heed to the people’s livelihood, control the price hike and black marketing and end the crisis of chemical fertilizers.
Reviewing the one-year term of the incumbent government led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, the meeting commended the government for successfully holding the local level election, endorsing the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) from the parliament with overwhelming support, and acting against of the COVD-19 pandemic.
The meeting also decided to issue a code of conduct for elected representatives of the Congress party at the local level and decided to give complete shape to party-affiliated sister associations by mid-August.
Likewise, several committees are formed to execute the role and activities of the party. A ‘Membership Management Central Committee’ is formed under the coordination of party General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, Central Disciplinary Committee is formed under the coordination of Central Member Anand Prasad Dhungana and Central Audit Committee is formed under the coordination of Central Member Shyam Kumar Ghimire.
Similarly, the meeting has also decided establish three different wings of the party- Nepal Democratic Tribes Federation, Nepal Tharu Association and Nepal Democratic Sports Association as the new sister organizations of the party. With the formation of three more sister organization, the number of sister organization of the party has reached to 11
