Kathmandu, Nepal, December 8, 2020: The crisis in the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is deepening day by day after due to the factional war between the top leaders, particularly the chairmen duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Sharma Oli. However, it is likely that the party would move forward amid the differences till the upcoming general convention because none of the side seems audacious to split the party.

The standing committee meeting of the party has been scheduled for December 13 with the aim to find the compromising points over the recent differences. But, nothing positive signs have come yet, thanks to the mindset kept by the rival factions to sideline each other rather than to compromise to end the never ending wrangling of the party.

Though the ruling NCP has been differing on ranges of issues related to the government and the party, the party has reached at the verge to vertical split after chairmen duo Oli and Dahal engaged in bitter exchanges through political documents presented before the Secretariat and sometimes verbal.

Oli had on Sunday skipped the standing committee meeting sending a letter that he became unable to attend the meeting called without his consent. Taking a strong exception to a political proposal tabled by Dahal, Oli has also made clear that he can't join the future meeting if the same proposal is presented before the Standing Committee meeting.

Oli has a suggestion that the Standing Committee meeting should be concentrated on the issues related the party unification, preparations for the party's upcoming general convention and response to the Ccoronavirus (OVID-19) pandemic but not the differences of the party.

He has expressed his determination to keep the party unity intact and run the party based on consensus. However, he has a condition that there should be waiting till the general convention to change the party leadership and general election to change the Prime Minister.

Oli has a firm stance that he would not leave any of the two posts as demanded by the dissident Dahal led faction that includes Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Bamdev Gautam, and Narayen Kaji Shrestha.

He has a demand that the political document tabled by Dahal should be withdrawn unconditionally to see his presence in the meeting and to save the party from the split. However, his condition would not be materialized as Dahal has also already made clear that he would never withdraw his document but elaborate further to present in the future meetings of the party.
