Kathmandu, Nepal, June 4, 2022: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led incumbent government has been dragged into controversies due to the reason of nonperformance of the Finance Minister Janardan Sharma and his latest controversial activities.

Demands are widespread that Finance Minister Sharma should be sacked out from the cabinet if he ignores the growing demands to resign from the post. Not only the main opposition CPN UML but also the leaders from Prime Minister Deuba’s own party Nepali Congress have demanded Sharma’s resignation.

However, Prime Minister Deuha has a neither a courage to sack out him from the post nor he is ready to resign immediately.  It is likely that he would continue in the post until and unless the CPN (Maoist Center) takes a concert decision to callback him from the minister.

Sharma has been in the headlines for the last few weeks for all the wrong reasons. He has been embroiled in controversy not only for failing to address the economical crisis of the country but inviting unauthorized persons to fix the taxes rates just a day before he presented the federal budget for the fiscal year 2022-23.

Speaking in Parliament on Monday, CPN UML chair KP Sharma Oli criticized the government for failing to sack out the finance Minister Sharma. Prime Minister Deuba appears to be helpless to sack Sharma despite serious allegations against him, Oli said.

Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa also demanded Sharma’s resignation. Responding to the queries of the media persons at the premises of the parliament on Monday, Thapa said  that the Prime Minister should remove Sharma if he ignores to resign from the post.

Sharma should resign. ‘If he does not resign, the prime minister should remove him and start a ptobe against him,’ Thapa said.

Similarly, prominent civil society leaders have also demanded Sharma’s resignation on the moral ground of failing to prove that had not involved unauthorized persons while finalizing the budget for the coming fiscal year.

Issuing a statement, former chief justice Sushila Karki, former vice chancellor of Tribhuvan University Kedar Bhakta Mathema and senior orthopedic surgeon Govinda KC have said that Sharma must resign if he cannot prove claim made against him.
