Kathmandu, Nepal: The much more waited Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the ruling head Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has witnessed the heated debate over the joint political document presented by its chairmen duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Sharma Oli.

As co-chairmen duo presented a joint paper, defending the activities of the party and the government, during the SC meeting on Sunday, most of the leaders including senior vice president Bam Dev Gautam, who was considered as loyal to Oli, lambasted the joint political document even demanding for rewriting the paper.  

Most of the leaders, who have casted their views till Monday have come up heavily against of the party leadership particularly the incumbent Oli-led government for failing to live up to people’s expectations in the past ten months. 

Dissident leaders including senior vice chairman Gautam alleged the party’s co-chairman and Prime Minister Oli of brewing factionalism even misusing the powers as head of the government. 

Among the leaders who had aired their views on Monday, Shakti Basnet was alone to defend the government. Yubaraj Gyawali, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Agni Sapkota, Haribol Gajurel, Mukunda Neupane, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Beduram Bhusal and Ganesh Sah also criticized not only the document but also the government and party leadership.

The dissident leaders had warned the leadership of a disaster if the party leadership was not careful to correct the course of action. The vocal critics Ghanashyam Bhusal had raised a question mark over the intention, motivation and performance of co-chairman Oli, who is also the Prime Minister. 

In what basis you selected the party’s provincial committees? Bhusal questioned even alleging the party leadership, particularly the co-chairman Oli of bolstering his faction while appointing in the party committees and other governmental position.

Though the joint political document was presented stating of moving ahead effectively, ended syndicate, destroyed the nexus of smugglers and others, almost all the leaders had questioned over the claim. The government has failed to live up to people’s expectations even one year after coming to power; the dissident leaders had a claim. 

As leader Gautam presented a supplementary report to counter the joint-report presented by the chairmen duo Dahal and Oli, others leader including Bhim Bahadur Rawal is also going to table another supplementary political document in the meeting. 
 
It is being speculated that the ongoing CC meeting of the government head NCP would not able to patch up the differences, thanks to the widening differences among the different rival factions of the party.
