Kathmandu, Nepal: With the Supreme Court (SC) stayed the government’s single-window policy to distribute relief materials to victims of natural disasters; various organizations have intensified their donation collection and distribution drives.
The government had decided to distribute relief materials through the government channel on August 14 with the aim to control the imbalance distribution and to curb the growing monopolies while collecting donation on the name of victims.
The policy had barred to any individuals and national or international organizations from directly distributing relief materials to victims.
With the order issued by the SC on Friday, way is paved to one and all to collect and distribute the relief materials on their own ways.
Responding to a petition filed by Advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh, the single bench of Justice Om Prakash Mishra had not only ordered against of the government’s decision but also issued a show cause notice to the government.
