Kathmandu, Nepal: As part of its preparations for the local level elections, the Election Commission (EC) has on Wednesday made public some election programs.

As per the published lection program, the day to file the candidacies is fixed April 29 while May 1 is slated for withdrawing candidacies if anybody wants.

The Election Commission has scheduled to provide election symbols to the candidates on May 2.  An office bearer meeting of the Election Commission fixed the election schedule.
As per the recommendation of the Election Commission, the government had declared the date of May 14 for holding the local level elections on last Monday.

Though the government has declared the date for the local level elections and the Election Commission has also made public the election schedule in line with the date fixed by the government, the looming doubts over the timely elections is to be cleared.

The government is yet to finalize the numbers and demarcation of local levels as per the recommendations of the Local Level Restructuring Commission (LLRC). The Madhes based parties have also protested the government decision with the challenge that they would not allow to hold elections in Terai districts.
