Kathmandu, Nepal, June, 26, 2019: The long being alleged issue that some agencies and persons have been launching free Tibet movement by using the land of Nepal has emerged at again as of a contentious issue. 

Samajbadi Party Nepal, an ally of the incumbent Nepal Communist Party Co-chair KP Sharma Oli led government, has suspended its lawmaker Pradeep Yadav from the party’s primary membership for six months alleging him for participating in an event related to the ‘Free-Tibet movement’ held in Latvia last month. 

The party has made the decision just a day after the government deported an American tourist on suspicion of being an agent of the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader, Dalai Lama.

Penpa Tsering, 53, who had arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) from New York City via New Delhi, was denied entry into Nepal and was promptly deported to the America after hours of questioning at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) on Saturday.

The immigration authority has said that American tourist Penpa was sent back to the America after records a man by his name was the ‘most-wanted’ person by China.

However, the American tourist had been defending the immigration officials requesting them for not to mistreat on the basis of his Tibetan origin. 

According to the source at the airport, the American tourist had been requesting to let him visit Nepal as he wanted to reunite with his friends and relatives in Kathmandu.

Likewise, a meeting of the Samajbadi party’s office bearers held in Kathmandu on Sunday took the decision to suspend Yadav from the party’s primary membership for six months. However, the party has not suspended him from the post of lawmaker.  

It is said that the party had reached on the conclusion to take the stern decision following the intense discussion in the party. Yadav had elected as lawmaker from Parsa-1. 

Reliable source close to the party claims that top leaders of the party including party’s chairman duo Upendra Yadav, who is also the deputy Prime Minister, and former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattrai have divided over the issue of taking action against lawmaker Yadav. 

It is said that Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu had strongly been objecting the participation of lawmakers in the event by breaching the country’s official position - One China Policy. It is said that strong objection from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu compelled the party to seek clarification from Yadav.

Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) lawmaker Iqbal Miya had also taken part in the event along with Yadav. However, the RJPN has not take action against its lawmaker even though the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu had already expressed its objection to Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara over the participation of lawmakers in the event.

Lawmakers duo Yadav and Miya have already confessed about their participation in the event claiming that they had decided to take part because unawareness about the organizer’s links with the Tibet movement.

Latvian Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet and the International Network of Parliamentarians on Tibet had organized the event in May.
