Kathmandu, Nepal, April 14, 2020: Withstanding to the increasing trend of corona virus (COVID-19) positive cases in the country, the government has on Tuesday decided to extend a nationwide lockdown until April 27.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers took a decision to this effect. Earlier, a meeting of the High-Level COVID-19 prevention and control committee under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense held on Tuesday itself had recommended the government to extend the lockdown to stem the spread of COVID-19.
The cabinet meeting has also decided halt the mobility of people across the porous border between Nepal and India and to suspend international flights until April 30.
As of the existing lockdown, all the activities except of the essential service will have been shut down during the extended period of lockdown.
