Kathmandu, Nepal: A cabinet meeting held on Thursday evening has transferred some secretaries including the secretary of the Election Commission (EC).
According to an official at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Secretary at the EC Gopinatha Mainali has been transferred at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of ministers.
Likewise, the Joint secretary Maheshor Neupane has been appointed as the acting secretary at the EC.
Reliable source claims that Mainal was transferred due to the request of the election commissioners particularly the Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Aayodhi Prasad Yadav.
There was a difference between the secretary and the commissioners over the issue of purchasing election materials particularly the vehicles, claims the source preferring anonymity.
Whatever the reasons were there, transforming of secretaries at the EC is taken meaningfully because election code of conduct does not allow the government to transform any government employees.
Likewise, the meeting has also transferred Rajan Khanal, secretary at the Ministry of Finance, at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). Regional Administrator Sishir Dhungana has been transferred at the Finance Ministry.
