Kathmanndu, Nepal, August 4, 2020: Responding to the spiking numbers of coronavirus infections in Kathmandu valley, the government has been mulling ideas to adopt some restrictive measures to contain the spreading of virus.
The Government has decided to shut operations of hotels and restaurants in the Kathmandu valley that do not adhere to safety protocols as set by authorities. As per the safety protocols, wearing of mask and mentioning of social distance are compulsory at the hotels and restaurants.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), action will be taken against service providers if someone inside the hotels and restaurants found to be violating the safety protocols. Likewise, the government has also tightened the provision of wearing masks to all the pedestrians.
Health officials have already recommended the government for another lockdown in Kathmandu Valley after the risk of coronavirus spread rose since the end of nation-wide lockdown.
As thousands of people have been entering the Valley every day from across the country as well as from neighboring India, and the number of people testing positive among them is growing.
