Kathmandu, Nepal, July 21, 2020: Though the torrential rainfall came since past two days has already created havoc across the country in Nepal, heavy rainfall across the country is predicted for the next five days.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has expected that the weather condition would improve only from July 24. Heavy downpour would occur for five more days across the country, the division has stated reasoning the low-pressure line which has reached in Nepali sky.

Provinces 1, 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, 5 and Sudur Paschim provinces have received heavy rainfall on Monday. It is said that most of the places have received more than 100mm of rain except Koldi in Bara district that recorded the highest rainfall of 169mm on Monday. It is predicted to increase to 200mm on coming days. 

Due to the heavy rainfall, water levels have crossed the danger mark in almost all rivers across the country posing threat to human settlements at the rivers’ banks. Likewise, landslide and floods have damaged the roads and bridges in several parts of the country obstructing the movement of people from one place to another. 

Likewise, the local administration of the Sindhupalchowk district has cautioned the people living along the banks of Bhotekoshi River stating that Kerung Tso Lake in Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China would outburst at any time. 

Issuing a notice on Monday, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Sindhupalchowk district Umesh Kumar Dhakal asked people living in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Barhabise Rural Municipality and other small markets along the bank of Bhotekoshi River to stay alert. 

It is said that Chinese authorities have already informed the Nepalese authorities that the incessant rainfall in the region would cause sudden outburst of the lake. Considering to the facts, the Chinese authorities has already relocated their citizens to upper parts of the lake.
