Kathmandu, Nepal, August 9, 2022: Responding to the widespread concerns, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has ordered the agencies under its purview to amend the names and surnames mentioned in the citizenship certificates if such names and surnames undermine the bearer’s honour.
Serious attention of the ministry is drawn to various news reports and information about citizenships that have been issued with names and surnames that undermined the honour of the citizens, reads the statement issued by the MoHP on Monday.
Issuing a statement, the MoHP has also ordered not to issue citizenship certificates with names that undermine the bearer’s honor. The MoHA has decided not to issue citizenship certificates with names and surnames that undermine the respect of the citizens, Fanindra Mani Pokharel, spokesperson at the ministry has stated in a statement adding as ‘If the person concerned requests for corrections, make arrangements for the same by following the due process.’
