Kathmandu, Nepal, December 19, 2022: CPN (Maoist Centre) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has claimed that he and his party have not forwarded any bottom line regarding the formation of new government.

As we are in favor of moving ahead through consensus and understanding, we have not forwarded any bottom line regarding the formation of new government, CPN Maoist Chairman Dahal, who is also the former Prime Minister, said while addressing a news conference organized by the Press Centre Nepal Chitwan Chapter on Monday.

CPN Maoist Chairman Dahal has made the statement at the time when there is a speculation that he had proposed for the post of Prime Minister of to be formed new coalition government during the recent meeting with the Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

"I have never put stake for the post of Prime Minister. I have only talked of shouldering the responsibility if an opportunity came from the coalition for taking the country's leadership," Dahal said adding “I have not involved in the race for Prime Minister.”

However, he said that his party would accept if offer is made to lead the new government. “There will not be otherwise to move ahead through consensus and understanding," he said.

Responding at another speculation that the Maoist Center and the Nepali Congress had made an understanding to lead the government turn by turn, Dahal said “there was no any written or formal understanding on this among the coalition partners.”

“I would like to assure you all that the new Prime Minister would be from within the ruling coalition partners and other seats will also be shared on the basis of the understanding among the coalition partners,” Dahal said.
