Kathmandu, Nepal, March 3, 2020: Finance and Communications and Information Technology Ministry Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada has resigned from the post after his two year tenure as national assembly member completed on Tuesday. 

Khatiwada tendered his resignation to President Bidya Devi Bhandari through the Chief Secretary of the government.

Following the resignation, the responsibilities of Khatiwada will be conferred to the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Issuing a statement, the office of the president has stated to this effect. 

It is said that Khatiwada will be appointed again with the same responsibility as finance minister.  Constitutionally,  he can serve for six more months as minister but he must be reappointed as the Upper House member for the extension of his ministerial tenure.
