Kathmandu, Nepal: At least one person killed, 24 others injured when police opened fire on demonstrators in Kanchanpur district on Friday afternoon. It is said that at least about one dozen persons are reported as critical in condition.
The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Sunny Khuna of Bhagatpur, Mahendranagar. He had breathed his last while he was rushed to the Mahakali Zonal Hospital after he sustained bullet injuries.
Local people have been demonstrating for the last four days demanding arrest of the culprit involved in the raping and killing of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Bhimdatta municipality-2, Kanchanpur.
Though the Police had arrested 41-year-old Dilip Singh Bista, a local of Bhimdatta Municipality-19 on the charge of involving in the rape case after 24 days of the incident, the demonstrators have suspected that the arrested one would not have the actual culprit as he is mentally retarded person.
