Kathmandu, Nepal, October 10, 2022: The Kathmandu District Court ((KDC) has extended the judicial remand of Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane by three more days for investigation. With the permission, the police will keep Lamichhane in police custody until October 13 for further investigation.
Lamichhane was arrested on last Thursday on the charge of raping a 17-year-old girl. However, accused Lamichhane and his lawyer Saroj Ghimire have claimed while presenting before the court on Monday that the girl was 19 years old.
I am innocent on the charge of raping the minor girl, Lamichhane said questioning to the judge about an alternative remedy in case of violation of his privacy. “The accuser had told me at the time of meeting that she was 19 years old,” Lamichhane said “I had agreed to meet her due to her request.”
While responding to the media persons, Lamichhane also reiterated that the accuser is not a minor. According to the Lamichhane’s lawyer Ghimire, the girl had reduced her age by making another birth certificate for study purposes.
