Kathmandu, Nepal, November 3, 2020: The Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Bidhya Sundar Shakya has directed to ban all volunteer groups, clubs and helping hands from distributing food to the needy people in Kathmandu.
Mayor Shakya directed the metropolis police to stop distributing food stating that random distribution of food has brought shame to the government and the KMC.
Responding to the plight of the underprivileged people affected form the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, some volunteer groups had been providing lunch in different parts of Kathmandu valley since the nationwide lockdown started on March 24.
