Kathmandu, Nepal: Law Minister Sher Bahadur Tamang has on Sunday apologized for his controversial remarks made against of the dignity of Nepali girl students who have gone to Bangladesh to study MBBS.

Speaking at a function organized by the Praxis Int’l Academy in Chabahil, Kathmandu on Friday Minister Tamang had said that Nepali girls who have gone to Bangladesh to study MBBS, have to ‘sell themselves’ in order to receive their certificates.

I apologize for the remarks that I made because it would have hurt the sentiments of girl students who are pursuing and have completed MBBS course in Bangladesh, the press statement issued by Tamang states.

My motive behind the remark was to point out the need of establishing medical education institutions in Nepal so that Nepali students would not face such problems, he has stated in the statement.
