Kathmandu, Nepal: Upendra Yadav has been purged from the leadership of the Federal Alliance.
A meeting of the alliance, an alliance of six agitating Madhes based parties and the indigenous group, held on Saturday mad the decision alleging Yadav led Federal Socialist Forum Nepal’s decision to take part in the local level elections before the constitution amendment.
With the decision, the agitating Madhes based parties have vertically divided over the issue of participating in the local level elections. The meeting decided to chose Rastriya Janata Dal Nepal chairman Mahantha Thakur as its new coordinator of the alliance.
Though the agitating Madhes based parties had not only been differing ideologically but personally over the issue of leaders, it is surfaced now over the issue of local level elections.
Thakur led Rastriya Janata Dal Nepal, which comprises remaining five agitating Madhes based parties except Yadav led forum, is not willing to participate in the local level elections in the pretext of demand that their demands should be fulfill before the local level elections through the amendment in the constitution.
The Yadav led forum, however, has filed its candidacy in the first phase of local level elections by forging alliance with former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattrai led Naya Shakti Nepal.
The meeting had also alleged Yadav betraying the issues of Madhesi, Tharu, Aadivasi Janajanti, Dalit, Muslim and other downtrodden communities by taking part in the local level elections.
