Kathmandu, Nepal, May 17, 2021: The CPN-UML, main opposition party in the parliament, has ended obstruction in the parliament after about nine months.
The UML had been obstructing the parliament since September 8, last year, alleging Speaker Agni Sapkota of failing to play an impartial role in parliament.
The UML had a demand that its 14 UML lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal have to be sacked as per the recommendation of the party.
As the dissident faction of the UML including the 15 lawmakers had already formed the party, Speaker Sapkota had not taken any action as per the recommendation of the UML.
Addressing the meeting of the parliament on Tuesday, UML Deputy General Secretary Pradip Gyawali said that his party decided to change the form of their protest in parliament keeping in view of the grave situation of the country.
As we have to discuss on various issues including deepening economic crisis, we have changed the form of protests, Gyawali said.
