Kathmandu, Nepal, August 23, 2022: The CPN (Maoist Center) and the CPN (Unified Socialist) have agreed to contest the upcoming federal and provincial assembly elections with a common manifesto.
A meeting between CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal agreed to this effect on Monday. Maoist Center’s Senior vice Chair Narayankaji Shrestha was also present in the meeting.
The meeting has also decided to form a joint past unity committee to execute the unity process of both the parties. Earlier, the United Socialist had formed a committee to unite with the Maoist Center.
‘We have decided to go to the polls with a common manifesto;’ Unified Socialist chair Nepal said ‘this development would be a part of unification process between the two parties.’
Meanwhile, senior leader of the Unified Socialist, Jhalanath Khanal, has said that the Maoist Centre and his party would be unified soon after the November 20 election.
