Kathmandu, Nepal, September 20, 2022: Mountain Advocacy Summit (MAS) is going to commence in Mustang from today (Tuesday). The two-day summit is going to be organized by the Ministry of Forests and Environment (MoFE) with the aim to draw the national and international attention towards issues and challenges facing the mountain region due to climate change.


According to the Ministry, experts and representatives of various organizations from home and abroad along with the activists are taking part in the event. Minister for Forests and Environment Pradeep Yadav, Secretary Dr. Pem Narayan Kandel and others high ranking officials at the Ministry are also taking part in the event.

Mountain regions of Nepal and other countries are facing more implications of global warming causing unusual rainfall and avalanches, which has directly impacted on the people’s livelihood and bio diversities. It is stated that the temperature in the mountain region is increasing by 0.08 degree Celsius each year.
