Kathmandu, Nepal: The 16th ministerial-level BIMSTEC meeting has finalized the text of draft Summit Declaration on Wednesday.
The meeting held in Kathmandu also recommended the text of draft to the leaders of the BIMSTEC member states for approval.
The two day long BIMSTEC summit is being commenced from Thursday in Kathmandu. High level delegates have begun to arrive in Kathmandu for the Summit.
During the meeting, the ministers of the member states have also expressed their readiness to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of BIMSTEC Grid Interconnection.
While delivering the opening remarks, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali underlined the need of deepening areas of cooperation rationalizing the priority areas like connectivity, trade, tourism, energy, and agriculture.
As the BIMSTEC is a unique regional platform due to the various reasons including the geographical contiguity, great civilization links and existence of potentials that can contribute to transform it into a prosperous region, the summit would be able to utilize it, minister Gyawali said in the meeting.
