Kathmandu, Nepal: Nagh Panchami is being observed across the country today. The Hindus used to celebrate the festival on the fifth day of bright half of Lunar month of Shrawan believing the snake as the symbol of the god.
The Nagh Panchami, which also known as Sukla Panchami festival used to celebrated by posting the picture of snake 'Nagh' above the front door of the house with the help of the cow’s dung and worshipping with cow's milk and flowers.
According to the Hindu mythology, Nagh Panchami narrates the importance of worship of snakes taking it as the god of water and rain.
