Palpa, Nepal, March 22, 2022: A national women’s beach volleyball tournament is going to be held at Tansen of Palpa district from coming April 7 to 9. Sanjay Smriti Memorial Foundation is going to organize the tournament for the first time in Palpa.
According to the organizer, the match will be played at the Rani Mahal premises. Altogether, 11 teams that include- one team each from seven provinces, three departmental teams and two invited teams will take part in the beach tournaments.
Captain of the national women’s volleyball team Aruna Shahi and filmy actor Dhiren Shakya have been nominated as goodwill ambassadors of the beach volleyball tournament as both are the local residents of the district.
Beach volleyball is a kind of sport event that used to be played on the sand. It is said that more than 6,000 rivers and streams of Nepal will be used as beach volleyball infrastructure.
The organizer has a claim that there is huge potential for this kind of game in most of the river and stream banks of Nepal.
Beach Volleyball was played in Pokhara during the 13th South Asian Games (SAG), which was hosted by Nepal in December 2019.
