Kathmandu, Nepal, August 9, 2022: The Nayab Subbas (non-gazette first class officials) have decided to stay on leave today (Tuesday) against of the unequal salary raise.
The non-gazette government employees have protested as the salaries of the higher-level employees have been increased contrary to the budget announcement.
According to the protesting non-gazette government employees, salary of the employees from section officers to secretaries has been increased by 24.5 percent though the Finance Minister Janardan Sharma had announced while presenting the budget of the current fiscal year that the salary of all government employees was increased by 15 percent.
However, the salaries of non gazette first class and non-gazette second class (Kharidar) have not been increased as of the higher ranking officials. They conducted a ‘pen down’ program at Singha Durbar on Monday once the gazette was published to implement the increase of salary as per the budget.
They have also demanded that vacant position of section officers have to be fulfilled through 50 percent from open competition, 30 percent from promotion and 20 percent from internal competition.
