Kathmandu, Nepal, February 18, 2020: The Nepali Congress (NC) has on Monday organized a mourning assembly at the NC’s Parliamentary Party office on Monday to mourn the death the National Assembly member and general convention representative of the party, Durga Prasad Upadhyay.
Addressing the mourning assembly, NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba said that Upadhyay 's death is an irreparable loss to the nation and party. The demise of Upadhyay is the irreparable loss to the party, NC president Deuba said recalling Upadhyay as a leader willing to work with the people in the village.
During the ceremony NC General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala remembered Upadhyay for his contribution in political and social sector. During the ceremony, NC Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav, leader of the main opposition party in the National Assembly, Surendra Raj Pandey and NC Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand also recalled Upadhyay's contributions in party.
Upadhyay had died in course of treatment on February 14. He was suffering from cancer for long.
