Kathmandu, Nepal, October 26, 2021: Senior leader of the ruling head Nepali Congress (NC) Ramchandra Poudel has announced his candidacy for the post of party president during the upcoming 14th General Convention, which is scheduled for coming month in Kathmandu.
Poudel announced his candidacy during a press conference organized by the Nepal Press Union, Banke on Monday.
He announced his candidacy at the time when about half a dozen leaders including incumbent president Sher Bahadur Deba have already announced their candidacy for the post of party president.
While responding to the concerns, Poudel claimed that only one candidate would be chosen from the faction led by him.
However, forging consensus seems impossible as Dr. Sashanka Koirala, who is incumbent General Secretary, and leaders Prakash Man Singh, Sekhar Koirala and Sujata Koirala have already announced their candidacy for the camp for the post of party president.
Likewise, Vice president Bimalendra Nidhi and Gopal Man Shrestha, who are considered loyal to party president Deuba, have also already announced their candidacy for the post of party president.
