Kathmandu, Nepal, August 23, 2022: Nepal and Bangladesh are going to hold energy secretary-level talks in Kathmandu on Thursday. The joint steering committee meeting is being held with the purpose of expediting the bilateral works on the promotion of hydropower related issues including joint investment, cooperation and energy trade.

Prior to the secretary level meeting, a joint-secretary level meeting will be held on Wednesday, the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI) said. It is said that the joint-secretary level meeting scheduled for Wednesday will set the agendas for the secretary level meeting. 

It is said that Nepal is going to forward a proposal to the Bangladeshi to construct 683 MW Sunkoshi-3 Hydropower Project in collaboration. Bangladesh had already shown interest to build Sunkoshi-3 Hydropower Project in collaboration with the Nepal government. Bangladeshi technical team has scheduled to visit the proposed project site on Tuesday.  

Meanwhile, a Bangladeshi delegation come to Nepal has met minister for Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal at the latter’s office on Monday.  During the meeting, Minister Bhusal expressed her belief that the regular meetings between the two countries would lead to exchange of experience and expansion of mutual relations.
