Kathmandu, Nepal, March 8, 2022: Nepal national cricket team has defeated Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club by 111 runs in a practice match played at the Navy Ground in Colombo on Monday.
With the winning, Nepal will get chance to play three more matches against first-class sides before leaving for the United Arab Emirates to participate in the tri-series under the ICC Cricket World Cup League-II.
Nepal national cricket team will vie against the same opponents on Tuesday before taking on Sri Lanka Police on Thursday and Sri Lanka combined XI of First Class players on Friday.
Batting first, Nepal were bowled out for 214 runs in 37.1 overs before packing the opponent side for 103 runs in 28.5 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee became the highest contributor for Nepal. He had scored 43 off 52.
Similarly, openers Asif Sheikh contributed 38-ball 36 and Kushal Bhurtel scored 13-ball 16. Skipper Sandeep Lamichhane took 3-18 from 7.5 overs while Bikram Sob and Gyanendra Malla claimed two wickets each.
Binod Bhandari contributed 22 off 25 while Kamal Airee and Karan KC scored equal 16 runs before their departure. Rohit Paudel contributed 13, Sagar Dhakal 13 and captain Sandeep Lamichhane 11.
