Kathmandu, Nepal, February 14, 2023: 10th Nepal-India Energy Secretary-Level Joint Steering Committee meeting is going to be held in New Delhi of India on coming February 17-18.


The meeting is scheduled to hold discussions on ranges of issues concentrating on long-term power purchase agreement along with other prominent agendas like energy cooperation, trans-country power trade and infrastructure development for cross-border transmission and others, Madhu Prasad Bhetuwal, spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation said.  

According to spokesperson Bhetuwal, the issues about exporting additional power from the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur 400 kV trans-border transmission line, 400 KV-New Butwal-Gorakhpur, the Duhabi-Purniya and the Lamki-Bareli cross-border transmission lines will also be discussed in the meeting. 

It is said that in addition of the agendas, the Nepali side is also going to propose the meeting to endorse the projects presented by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to export power to India,. 

As the ninth Joint Steering Meeting had held in Kathmandu last year had formed a joint technical team comprising three members each from Nepal and India with the task to facilitate the joint hydropower projects, the scheduled meeting will review the team’s activities of the last one year, spokesperson Bhetuwal said.
