Kathmandu, Nepal, June 16, 2022: Minister for Home Affairs, Bal Krishna Khand has made clear that Nepal neither involved in the State Partnership Program (SPP) nor does it have the intention to do so in the future.
Speaking at the parliament on behalf of the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday Home Minister Khad said ‘Nepal neither involved in SPP and nor does it have any intention to do so in the future.’
Responding to the queries raised by some lawmakers, he also made clear that Nepal cannot be part of any military alliance. The lawmakers from the main opposition party CPN UML had raised the issue in the parliament claiming that the government is going to sign in the SPP agreement.
‘As Nepal is a member of the United Nations, Nepal should not be involved in such programs,’ he said. During his address he also said that the date of the prime minister's visit to the USA has not been fixed yet.
