Kathmandu, Nepal, October 26, 2021: Nepal received United States of America (USA) donated 100,620 doses of Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine on Monday.  The USA has donated the vaccines through COVAX, the international vaccine sharing scheme backed by the United Nations.

This is the first time the vaccine manufactured by Pfizer has arrived in Nepal. The fourth vaccine to be used in Nepal has to be administered two doses within a period of a month. Likewise, the vaccines have to be maintained at minus 70 degrees.

The government has decided to provide the vaccine from 22 hospitals throughout the country to people with compromised immunity. According to Sagar Dahal, chief of National Immunization Program,  the people suffering from renal failure, cancer patients and heart patients and those having diabetes will be administered the vaccine first.
