Kathmandu, Nepal, February 5, 2022: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to support the CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Urmila Aryal for the post of Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly.
As office bearer meeting of the NC held today decided not to run for the post of National Assembly vice-president. The decision of the NC not to run for the post of National Assembly vice-president is meant to support the Maoist Candidate.
The Maoist Center has already nominated as the candidate for the post of vice Chairperson of the National Assembly in the backing of the ruling alliance.
As ruling alliance has allocated the post of vice Chairperson of the National Assembly to the Maoist Center, she would be elected unopposed in the post.
The Nepali Congress has made the strategic decision at the time when the CPN Maoist Center has given a clear sign that it would not support to the CPN UML candidate in the post of president.
As the Maoist Center is advocating for the consensual candidate for the post of president, the NC has believed that presidential candidate nominated by the NC would be elected in the post of president.
