Bhairahawa, Nepal, February 25, 2020:The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has demanded impartial investigation into the case over Rs 70 million kickback commission amounts demanded by government’s spokesperson Gokul Prasad Baskota with the agent of a Swiss supplier of security press.

Addressing a condolence function organized on the demise of NC leader Durga Prasad Upadhyaya in Lumbini on Monday, Deuba, who is also the fourth time Prime Minister of the country, also casted a doubt that several other ministers including Prime Minister KP Oli himself could be involved in the case.

‘One single individual could not have been involved in such a huge bribery,’ Deuba said adding that other ministers including the Prime Minister Oli also must have been involved in the case. Nepali Congress will not remain silent until there is a fair investigation into the scam, Deuba warned.

Since one after another big corruption scandals involving government ministers and officials are being exposed, fair investigation is necessary to investigate, Deuba said. During the same function, Nepali Congress chief whip Bal Krishna Khand also blamed the government for institutionalizing the corruption in the country.

Likewise, the cabinet meeting of the 'Shadow Government' formed by the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) had also reached on the conclusion that incumbent government formed under the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has institutionalized the corruption in the country.

The first meeting of the main opposition NC’s shadow government held on Sunday had directed the respective 'shadow ministers' to study over the entire decisions made during the period by the incumbent government.
