Kathmandu, Nepal, May 20, 2021: The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party in the parliament, has on Thursday filed a complaint at the Election Commission (EC) against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha demanding actions alleging them of violating the election code of conduct. 

The NC has claim that the Prime Minister Oli and Shrestha have violated the Articles 5 D (3) and (5) and (6) of the Election Code of Conduct-2015. 

As a meeting of the ruling CPN UML’s Parliamentary Party Working Committee had on Wednesday issued a statement appealing the voters to vote for the party’s candidate Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal in the National Assembly by-election and Minister Shrestha had made a statements in line of the statement during the silence period, the NC has demanded actions against them for breaching the election code of conduct. 

Responding to the widespread demands for action against those who have violated the election code of conduct, the EC had on Wednesday issued a statement urging not to breach the election code of conduct sans naming anyone. 
 
Likewise, the NC has also handed over a 15-point memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli drawing the government’s attention to combat spreading COVID-19 in the country. 

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba handed over the memorandum of understanding by reaching at the official residence of Prime Minister Oli on Thursday afternoon.
