Kathmandu, Nepal: The meeting of the House of Representatives has been postponed for Thursday following the obstruction on house proceedings by the major opposition Nepali Congress (NC) protesting the government’s plan to present the controversial National Medical Education Bill in the parliament on Monday. 

As the Bill was being introduced in the parliament, the NC lawmakers stood from their seats demanding inclusion of the recommendations made by the Kedar Bhakta Mathema led commission to resolve the issues related to the medical educations in Nepal.

The NC lawmakers remained ruckus until the meeting was postponed. NC lawmakers denied letting function the parliamentary proceedings though speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara repeatedly urged to allow presenting the Bill.
The Bill, which was registered earlier in the parliament, was being introduced to make a matter of discussion on Monday without any corrections though the government had withdrawn with the commitment to make correction in the Bill. 

The main opposition Nepali Congress has remained firm on the stand that the Bill should be corrected incorporating the demands raised by senior orthopedic doctor Govinda KC and the recommendations made by the Kedar Bhakta Mathema led commission. 

Dr KC is in hunger strike in Jumla district for the past 17 days demanding reform of medical education and health sector in the country. He had begun his 15the series of hunger strike by reaching in Jumla after government turned deaf ear to fulfill the past commitments made with him. 

Likewise, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba asked the government to be serious towards the demands put forth by Dr. KC .  

As the government is turning blind eye to Dr KC’s demand, it has became a matter of concern to the Nepali Congress, Deuba, who is also the fourth time prime minister of the country, has said releasing a press statement on Monday.

The government should hold dialogue with the protesting Dr.KC without any further delay to save his life by addressing his demands, Deuba has stated in the statement.

The issue raised by Dr. KC should be resolved logically by presenting the Medical Education Bill incorporating the recommendations furnished by the Mathema Commission , NC president Deuba has said adding that the new Bill should be corrected in line with the ordinance issued by then NC led government.

Likewise, NC president Deuba has also issued a warning that the government must take all responsibility if Dr KC falls prey to some unfavorable incidents.
