Kathmandu, Nepal: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has issued a challenge to the incumbent Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led government whether to correct the working style or be ready to face the severe consequences. 

Speaking at a program organized by party central committee on the occasion of the 36th BP Memorial Day on Sunday in Kathmandu, President Deuba accused the government of trying to impose totalitarianism even suppressing citizens' fundamental rights of peaceful protest.

The government has not only been declaring prohibited area but also suppressing the peaceful protests going against the fundamental values of the democracy and human rights, Deuba, who is also the fourth time prime minister of the country, said. 

During the function he also urged the government to settle the issue related to the reform in the medical education by making corrections in the medical education bill as per the spirit of the Mathema commission.  

On the occasion, senior leader of the party Ram Chandra Poudel also alleged the government for suppressing the peaceful demonstration. 

During the function he also underlined the need of democratic socialism as envisaged by BP Koirala. As the constitution was promulgated through the Constituent Assembly, the Nepali Congress has to play constructive role to flourish the democratic socialism as envisaged by By BP, senior leader Poudel said.  

General Secretary Dr Sashank Koirala also underlined the need of internalization of the principles and guidelines of democratic socialism set by BP Koirala. 

Real tribute to the late BP Koirala would be internalization of the principles and guidelines of democratic socialism set by BP Koirala, General Secretary Koirala said. 

During the function, he also urged the party leadership to end groupism in the party and make the party united to be able to cope the present challenges faced by the nation and the party as well. 

Treasurer Sita Devi Yadav, leader Gopal Man Shrestha, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and many other leaders also opined in the function.
