Kathmandu, Nepal, January 24, 2020: Months-long disputes engulfed within the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have come into an end after both the factions-one led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and another led by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel agreed to move ahead through the consensus on contentious issues including the recent one.
As the disputes of the NC had surfaced after party President Deuba unilaterally decided to defer the 13th general convention by a year and increase the number of the party’s central departments, it is agreed to make change in the previous decisions by incorporating the concerns raised by the dissident faction led by Poudel.
It is said that the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled for Sunday will make necessary changes in the calendar of events of the general convention.
President Deuba had called a meeting at his residence, Budhanilakantha on Thursday with the aim to settle all the differences by taking into confidence the dissident faction.
In the meeting, Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi, General Secretary duo Shashank Koirala and Purna Bahadur Khadka, central working committee members- Prakash Man Singh, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Ramesh Lekhak, Minendra Rijal including senior leader Poudel were present.
